I've just finished my second week at Serena. It is very nice being back on full time. With nicer weather coming, I've been riding my bike more, so that is good, too.
Getting ready for Father's Day weekend.

A New Job!
I start tomorrow in a full time, permanent position at Serena Software in Hillsboro. Still a long commute, but I get benefits, so it is definitely worth it. During at least the summer, I'll be riding my bike to/from the Max, saving a couple of bus rides, plus getting myself into better shape.

A lovely weekend
It was a very nice weekend here in Portland. Saturday, we went up to Multnomah Falls (and hiked about half way up). Yesterday, we went to Schreiner's Iris Gardens near Salem. Both days, I took lots of pictures. It is fun to have a good, small digital camera!

Mother's Day Weekend
It is the Friday before Mother's Day. I've been busy learning more about using AJAX in my web development. It is pretty cool, allowing a web application to behave more like a desktop application. Google Maps and Gmail both use this technology.

April is almost over
It's been a pretty busy month, between softball, looking for work, a youth festival, etc. The weather over the last few weeks has been gorgeous! Today is it is cloudy so far, but other than that, the sun has shone every day.
I have multimedia duty at the Pleasant Valley Church today (and there is an afternoon program, too), so it will be a pretty long day. Oh well, at least it keeps me out of trouble! :-)
God Bless!

More changes
Well, yesterday was eventful. I was laid off after only two weeks--didn't fit in with the corporate culture, whatever that means. Now, I get to start looking for another job, yet again...
Oh, well, God will provide....

Taxes are done
Well, I'm mostly unpacked and just got my 2005 taxes filed. My tax return is going to help pay for the girls' PAA tuition.
I've been doing a lot of reading while riding the Max to my job in Hillsboro. Most of the books are science fiction that I get free from the Baen Free Library.

Changes....
I just moved into an apartment. I'll miss my house, but it will be nice to have it off of my back, along with a few bills. Every muscle in my body hurts--and I hate moving!
Tomorrow, my three month contract with Serena ends. On Thursday, I start a contract with MTI doing Linux development. I'd much rather have a full time, permanent position (with benefits) but it still beats unemployment, hands down.

Thanksgiving is over
It's the Friday after Thanksgiving. I spent the holiday at my aunt and uncle's house in Tillamook, Oregon. It was beautiful and sunny Tuesday and Wednesday, but yesterday it started to cloud and up and it rained hard last night and is still raining--a typical Oregon fall day.
We had plenty of food and fellowship, but I miss my girls.

The weekend is over
It was a relatively quiet weekend. This morning, PVC had a men's breakfast that I attended. Good food and fellowship.
Hopefully, this week will have some changes in my job situation (Please Lord!)

TGIF
It is Friday evening here in Portland. I'm at Pleasant Valley Church running the multimedia room; we're practicing tonight for Sabbath's services.
Still no jobs, but some prospects (some in other cities...).

Still looking for a job
It's been a while since I've posted. Lily and the girls moved out a month or so ago. The house seems so empty with just me and Jake (the dog) here. I'm still looking for a job. I have a job interview today and yesterday got a couple of leads.
I'm leaving everything in God's hands.

Dark Days
I'm going through a dark period of my life. My job search has been fruitless, so far--causing financial problems. Lily and I are having some serious issues. I'm more depressed than I've ever been. But, when I look at what's going on down in LA/MS, my life doesn't seem nearly as bad.
I've been doing lots of reading and praying. I'm just leaving EVERYTHING in God's hands. His will be done--whatever that means.

Everyone is home
For the last couple of weeks, the two girls were in California with relatives. They got home last night. Sara, our new Japanese exchange student, arrived on Sunday, so we have a house full of high school girls, again.
Still looking for a job.

Camp Meeting is Over
From Tuesday evening until last evening, I was attending the Oregon SDA Campmeeting at Gladstone. It was very good. Last night's speaker was Shawn Boonstra from It Is Written. His message makes me wonder what God has in store for me (my job situation). Oh well, I'm going to just trust Him!

Out but not down?
Well, yesterday I was laid off from WebTrends, after almost 5 years :-(. This is the first time that I've ever been laid off and also the first time since 1990 that I've been out of a job.
I have a couple of months severance to look for a new job. I'm sure that something will come up...

I've been busy
Last weekend, we went to Walla Walla, Washington to attend my cousin's graduation from Nursing. She was top of her class!
I'm also teaching again at the University of Phoenix, so that make life even more interesting.
Hopefully, Father's day weekend will be more relaxing :-)

PAA Graduation Day
It's been a busy weekend, and today will continue that busyness. It's a rainy Sunday. Some of our best friend's kids are graduating from PAA today at 2:00.

End of the month
Yesterday was long, but good day. I spent all afternoon watching a spring league high school basketball tournament.
The NWL All Stars, with 3 PAA seniors were the overall champs. Watching this was much more entertaining than any professional game I've seen!
Anyhow, back to work...
