Thanksgiving is over

It's the Friday after Thanksgiving. I spent the holiday at my aunt and uncle's house in Tillamook, Oregon. It was beautiful and sunny Tuesday and Wednesday, but yesterday it started to cloud and up and it rained hard last night and is still raining--a typical Oregon fall day.

We had plenty of food and fellowship, but I miss my girls.

The weekend is over

It was a relatively quiet weekend. This morning, PVC had a men's breakfast that I attended. Good food and fellowship.

Hopefully, this week will have some changes in my job situation (Please Lord!)

TGIF

It is Friday evening here in Portland. I'm at Pleasant Valley Church running the multimedia room; we're practicing tonight for Sabbath's services.

Still no jobs, but some prospects (some in other cities...).

Still looking for a job

It's been a while since I've posted. Lily and the girls moved out a month or so ago. The house seems so empty with just me and Jake (the dog) here. I'm still looking for a job. I have a job interview today and yesterday got a couple of leads.

I'm leaving everything in God's hands.

Dark Days

I'm going through a dark period of my life. My job search has been fruitless, so far--causing financial problems. Lily and I are having some serious issues. I'm more depressed than I've ever been. But, when I look at what's going on down in LA/MS, my life doesn't seem nearly as bad.

I've been doing lots of reading and praying. I'm just leaving EVERYTHING in God's hands. His will be done--whatever that means.

Everyone is home

For the last couple of weeks, the two girls were in California with relatives. They got home last night. Sara, our new Japanese exchange student, arrived on Sunday, so we have a house full of high school girls, again.

Still looking for a job.

Camp Meeting is Over

From Tuesday evening until last evening, I was attending the Oregon SDA Campmeeting at Gladstone. It was very good. Last night's speaker was Shawn Boonstra from It Is Written. His message makes me wonder what God has in store for me (my job situation). Oh well, I'm going to just trust Him!

Out but not down?

Well, yesterday I was laid off from WebTrends, after almost 5 years :-(. This is the first time that I've ever been laid off and also the first time since 1990 that I've been out of a job.

I have a couple of months severance to look for a new job. I'm sure that something will come up...

I've been busy

Last weekend, we went to Walla Walla, Washington to attend my cousin's graduation from Nursing. She was top of her class!

I'm also teaching again at the University of Phoenix, so that make life even more interesting.

Hopefully, Father's day weekend will be more relaxing :-)

PAA Graduation Day

It's been a busy weekend, and today will continue that busyness. It's a rainy Sunday. Some of our best friend's kids are graduating from PAA today at 2:00.

End of the month

Yesterday was long, but good day. I spent all afternoon watching a spring league high school basketball tournament.

The NWL All Stars, with 3 PAA seniors were the overall champs. Watching this was much more entertaining than any professional game I've seen!

Anyhow, back to work...

I'm sore

We worked in the yard yesterday for several hours, mowing, pulling weeds, trimming bushes and attacking some blackberry bushes. I ached all over afterwords.

In the evening we went to a barbecue at a friends house. We ate and ate and ate...

Today is a basketball tournament for our friends' son, so we'll be watching that.

Yard Day

Today, we're going to work in the yard, pulling weeds and getting it cleaned up.

The weather yesterday at the coast was cool and cloudy, but we still had a good time with our friends.

The girls went and watched Star Wars last night.

A Trip to the Coast

My family and some of our best friends are going to spend the day at the Oregon Coast. It should be a nice, relaxing day away from the stress of the city.

From Portland, it only takes about an hour to be at either the coast or the mountains, so we can pick our choice.

Yesterday, it was 95 degrees--and broke the record for the day. After work, I came home and mowed the lawn--it was pretty hot!

A Sunny Friday for Our Anniversary.

Vainiaku's concert last evening was good. PAA has a steel drum band and that was enjoyable, as well.

Today is Lily and I's 4th anniversary.

It is another sunny day here in Portland. It is supposed to be in the low 90s again today.

For the long holiday weekend, we are planning on getting our yard into better shape.

A hot day in Oregon

Yesterday, it was around 81 degrees; today and tomorrow are supposed to be in the low 90s.

My oldest daughter is in a choir concert this evening at PAA. We had a good talk last night about her dreams and goals for life. She is now wanting to be a writer, and is very enthusastic about that career.

I'm currently reading David Drake's RCN series on my Pocket PC. (I take the MAX lightrail system to work, so I have plenty of time for reading). It is light reading, but I enjoy it.

1st Entry

I just got back from Tennessee and Georgia. I was attending my nephew's high school graduation from Georgia Cumberland Academy.

We made it safely back to Oregon (eventually). In Phoenix, we had a two hour delay. The plane was too hot for us to board (they said it was 106 inside). They eventually got it cooled off and we made it to Portland about 6 (instead of 4 like it was supposed to be).

It was a pretty flight up to Portland, though. I could see Lake Tahoe, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Raineer, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, etc.

We had a good time visiting with everyone, although it was too short :-(.

God Bless.
